With comfort and Mid on our feet, the fifteenth version of the Saucony Ride nails it to a T! We actually think that it might be the best Saucony Ride iteration to date! As a workhorse, we love that it's ready to make our short to long runs insanely comfy and easy with its plush cushion and smooth ride. Even more, it's got protection written all over it, so don't worry about achy feet and legs after racking up miles on the pavement.

From the ground up, the Saucony x Feature Shadow 6000 "Chocolate Chip" Braun Rot has been reworked to take comfort up a notch and strip down the weight (1.7 oz / 48 g lighter). It has:

Weight is as promised

Visually, it looks bulky with its maxed-out cushion. But in hand and on foot, the Saucony x Feature Shadow 6000 "Chocolate Chip" Braun Rot is strikingly light.

At 8.4 oz (238 g), it's more than an ounce lighter than most daily trainers with an average weight of 9.9 oz (281 g). This said the brand stays true to its promise.

A generously padded insole also contributes to underfoot comfort and cushioning. It is 6.4 mm thick which is above the average 4.5 mm of running shoes.

Runs smoothly but NOT for tempo runs

Contrary to past versions of the Saucony Ride, this iteration feels more rockered. So much so, that we felt like spending less energy to get from one step to the next.

But when it comes to speed, we found that the 15th edition of the Ride misses out on energy return. Picking up the pace felt like a bit of a drag.

Ride 15 is quite stable for a neutral shoe

For a neutral shoe, the Saucony Ride really impressed us with its steady platform. We believe that it comes from the combination of the midsole shape, the foam firmness, and the fact that our heels sit deeper inside the shoe.

Based on our caliper measurements of the platform, it is a little bit wider than average in the forefoot (114.8 mm).

A big no-no for cold conditions

When it's freezing, the midsole stiffens up; it becomes as solid as a brick!

Once the foam is exposed to cold (like spending 20 minutes in the freezer), it becomes 26.7% stiffer.

There is no shifting and sliding around with the gusseted tongue of the Ride 15. In addition, it's padded enough (4 mm) to prevent the shoe's rather rough laces from digging into the skin.

No issues with heel slippage

The heel area is nice and structured in this Saucony shoe. We gave it 4 out of 5 in our heel stiffness check. The collar and heel areas are nicely padded as well.

Your feet can breathe in the Ride 15

Because there are loads of perforations, especially in the forefoot area, this shoe is pretty breathable! Even under hot temps, it doesn't feel warm.
