Fit and sizing
eS Accel Slim Mid sneakers are for sale in sizes ranging from 5 to 14 in men’s measurements. A part of eS’ skate shoe collection, the fit of this shoe is excellent, and the sizing is mostly true unless you want to use the shoes for skateboarding, in which case it can feel a bit large (many skaters prefer a slightly tight feel).
The shoes provide ample heel and arch support courtesy of the mid-top construction and cushioned insoles, respectively.
Style of the eS Accel Slim Mid
Clothing for skateboarding is often loose, but that doesn’t mean drab or sloppy. Maybe a bit rebellious but definitely comfy. Below are some style tips for you based on a few colorways this model has:
- eS Accel Slim Mid in dark grey or black - Pair with a red shirt (for a pop of color), grey jeans, and a dark grey hoodie.
- eS Accel Slim Mid in black/white/royal - Match with rolled-up blue jeans, a white shirt, and a crisp light blue button-up short-sleeved shirt.
- Aside from the hues above, eS Accel Slim Mids are offered in black & white, brown/gum/gold, black/brown, and navy/gum.
Notable features
The most arresting aspect of eS Accel Slim Mid sneakers is their silhouette, which remains one of the most familiar and popular among skateboarders today. Although they are a slimmer version of their famous ancestor, these are just as comfortable and distinguished as the original, which is why their return was very much awaited in the skateboarding world.
The shoes feature STI Ortholite insoles that account for the superior cushioning these kicks provide and 400 NBS gum rubber for the outsoles that makes them last longer.
History of the eS Accel Slim Mid
Accel Slim Mid shoes are based on the eS brand’s most popular shoe of all time—the Accel. The Accel model, which was designed by eS founder Pierre André Senizergues, was released in 1995 to wide acclaim. The shoes were simple, functional, and looked extremely clean. These traits would propel the Accel silhouette into worldwide popularity and turn the sneakers into skateboarding icons.
The original sneakers had a chunky build and low-profile construction. Lots of paddings and cushioning gave the skate shoes a very cushioned feel. It was the combination of style and comfort that had many a skater grabbing a pair of these notable kicks in the 90s. In fact, these kicks were so ubiquitous that most pro skaters had these grace their feet at one time or another.
In the year 2016, eS decided to take a trip down memory lane by bringing back their most iconic silhouette to date. They revamped the Accel model and gave it a higher construction and a slimmer build without compromising padding. The first release of eS Accel Slim Mids was in black and red (burgundy) colorways, although more shades dropped later.
