We tested several Adidas hiking boots in the lab and on the trail in our search for the best overall hiking boot. A boot this light doesn’t tire our feet out, and we have more energy to spare at the end of a long day.

The Terrex Free Hiker displayed phenomenal grip on our hikes and had no trouble on loose gravel, wet grass, or polished rock. We counted 57 lugs on the outsole, each measuring 4.8 mm deep. We found the lugs to be well-spaced, meaning they shed sticky mud quickly. At 7.34 mm, the durable Continental outsole is thicker than average. The outsole showed little discernible wear after our rigorous test hikes, and we trust them to last!

For this reason, we don’t recommend it to hikers who will be exploring beyond well-groomed trails.
