Paul Van Doren and James Van Doren, with the help of some of their friends, established the Van Doren Rubber Company in 1965. Along with it, they introduced the Vans Authentic which was the company’s first silhouette that features a combination of canvas and rubber materials. Since then, the brand has become one of the most popular names in the industry and most especially in the skateboarding sub-culture.

Vault By Vans

The Vault By Vans was founded in 2003. It is Van’s premium label which offers designs and styles that are pulled from the brand’s vault. This label was originally established that “reinvigorates” the brand’s remarkable classic silhouettes such as the Old Skool, Era, Slip-On, and the Sk8-Hi, and it is now fully dedicated to producing premium Vans footwear and apparel.

The Vault has become the brand’s own laboratory for its premium products as it also partnered with renowned designers, retailers, and other labels in the industry. Aside from being Vans’ platform for its top-quality collaborative releases, the Vault also serves as a place for the brand to revive some of its archived silhouettes with new twists on its design when releasing them for its anniversary or for reintroduction to the Vans’ mainline. Throughout the years, the Vault is behind some of the notable re-introduction of classic models of the Vans. 

The Vans Era Sneaker

The design of the Vans Era silhouette was introduced as an answer to the Deliocate needs of skaters. It showcases an upper with a more rugged appeal and a vulcanized sole which is more suitable for a skater’s jumps and board tricks.

The Vans Era silhouette was officially designed by skaters for skaters in 1975 and its first design was introduced in 1976. It featured a canvas upper with double stitching as well as additional padding that offers increased comfort, then finished off with a rubber outsole. 

Over the years, the Vans Era silhouette has witnessed multiple iterations both in its design and its colorways.
