True-to-size fit of TURBOWPN
Several testers said that the sneakers are true to size. An expert said that going with your regular size leaves the right amount of room for you to wiggle your toes.
TURBOWPN’s superb comfort
“Can wear them for ten or twelve hours and not take them off!” is how a tester described the comfort of these kicks. They are “surprisingly comfortable,” retorted another. The inner is “decently padded,” noted an expert. Even the oversized tongue feels “comfy and really squishy,” said another reviewer.
Oversized soles are grippy but a tad heavy
The outsole of Converse TURBOWPN has that signature Rick Owens saw-tooth pattern, as noted by several reviewers. The design gave the sneaker a “solid amount of traction,” said an expert tester. Another expert said the soles allow for ball maneuvering in the court. However, they warned that “they really have some weight to them” which is “something to note when buying.”
Many reviewers also did not fail to mention that the soles of TURBOWPN are “very bulky” and “massive.” One claimed these are “the heaviest shoes [they] have ever owned.” Another tester explained that “they are heavy as heck, but the most comfortable ‘boot’ [they] have ever worn.”
Experience premium quality
“The quality of this shoe is crazy insane!” exclaimed a reviewer. The kicks are made with 100% cow leather which, according to a tester, “looks pretty good.” An expert shared that the construction is good and has a thick layer of leather. Several testers also noted the double stitchings on the upper, which makes them “fairly sturdy.” One tester noted that there are small imperfections, like chipping on the outsole, but “not a huge deal.”
All three colorways are the bomb!
Converse TURBOWPN Rick Owens DRKSHDW was first released on the 31st of August 2021 in a black upper and off-white sole. On its second release on the 3rd of May 2022, the “Egret” and “Clay” colorways were introduced. Egret is a cream/off-white upper, while Clay dons a brownish leather hue.
Fans are going wild with the colorways. One said that going with all-black is a good option for everyday use because “you can wear it with everything.” Egret, on the other hand, is “definitely a clean sneaker!” reasoned another. Clay simps also commented that the brown leather is “actually refreshing” and “a sleeper hit.” If you can’t pick one, know that one reviewer shared that it is “fire to mismatch.” All three colorways also come with extra laces.

The Avante-garde design of the sneaker makes it “a good statement piece,” according to a sneakerhead. An expert retorts that the silhouette is a mixture of the OG Converse Weapon sneaker in the 80s with “Rick Owens doing his own special touch.” It is “literally an iconic classic, just with a designer twist to it,” explained another.
Several commenters compared TURBOWPN to look like Rick Owens Geobasket but smaller. They also mentioned that the kicks share a resemblance with Adidas Mastodon. But according to a reviewer, the TURBOWPN “definitely looks better on foot.”

Wearing these sneakers made one reviewer “feel like a boss.” The monochromatic kicks are ideal with a “baggy pair of pants,” suggested a sneaker fan. Pairing the kicks with white pants is a “match made in heaven,” claimed another. One expert noted that the color schemes give a summer/spring vibe, but the shoe works better for winter because they are warm. “Might feel toasty in the summertime,” they added.
Very pricey but great value for the money
A pair of Converse TURBOWPN fares at $200, which a reviewer said is a “very nice price point.” One tester said that with the quality of the kicks, the price “keeps the pockets happier” than buying other Rick Owen dunks. On average, a Rick Owens shoe costs around $400, with some reaching as high as $1000. This makes the TURBOWPN a “good bang for your buck,” said another sneakerhead.
History of Converse TURBOWPN Rick Owens DRKSHDW
The kicks are derived from the original Converse Weapon in the 80s. The shoe was popularized by NBA Legends Magic Johnson and Larry Bird. The OG Weapon lost its popularity sometime in the late 80s.
A revamped version under the CX line of Converse was released in 2021, the Weapon CX. Shortly after, Rick Owens collaborated with the brand to recreate the sneaker.
An expert noted that the kicks are not your typical “dad’s hooping sneakers from the 80s” but have been “Rick-ified for the better.”
