Our feet loved the Invincible 3's spacious toebox, especially on longer runs. It oozes comfort, devouring impact with its lofty and cloud-like midsole. Plus its delightful snug fit, this shoe annihilated its competition.

There's no room for discomfort or blisters in this toebox; our feet could splay out delightfully in the front. Our caliper measured the widest part of the upper to be 97.7 mm, right at the average for running. The stretchy mesh is a treat, making our toes feel comfier than ever. The padded upper provided a truly comfortable fit. In our lab, we meticulously measured the tongue’s thickness to be 7.4 mm (1.7 mm above average), ensuring a strong and secure fit around the ankle.

The premium ZoomX foam remains undefeated when it comes to plushy cushioning. By pressing our durometer against the foam, we confirmed its soothing nature, emerging as 46% softer than average! Thanks to a steady and snug fit and a supportive midsole, our steps were nicely stable no matter how uneven the terrain was. In our lab, we put its breathability to the test by pumping smoke into the shoe, and the results were no surprise. The smoke quickly escaped through the various perforations throughout the upper and the tongue, confirming that this one could handle the heat.

However, we noticed that the Trail 4 struggled to keep its composure at the slightest sign of mud. Therefore, we cannot recommend this shoe to men looking for a trustworthy shoe for cold and wet weather.

With its attractive price point, it’s perfect for those looking for an affordable alternative to the (many) expensive shoes on the market.

The Nike ZoomX Vaporfly NEXT% 2 is probably one of the fastest shoes on the market, but it has some problems that the majority of runners agree with. It’s unstable, a bit too narrow still, looks ridiculous, and hits the pocketbook hard. If your job is to run fast, or you’re a sponsored athlete I think these shoes may be the tool to help you win, but for the average joe who wants to drop two minutes off their 5K time, it may be too much tech in a shoe that's a better fit for the 1% club.
