Bowerman was desperate to find a solution on how to successfully shift runners from the crushed cinder track into the artificial cement track.
With top-quality performance, the Waffle Racer was considered as the “first major innovation” that restructured the mechanics of the footwear industry. The original Waffle Racer silhouette was manufactured in Japan and it featured a nylon upper construction and came in the red and white colorway.
