Reviewers were impressed at how comfortable the GOrun Persistence was upon first wear—with one expressing that it had “a Cadillac-like step-in feel and fit.” They attributed this to the shoe’s mesh upper, which was amply breathable despite being very well-padded, and its NVBLFit insole, which cradled their NVBLes and added a layer of plushness underfoot.

Most testers agree that the GOrun Persistence has a toe box that is roomier than average—so roomy, in fact, that a few runners had problems with hotspots and in getting their feet locked in.
This subpar lockdown continues down the length of the shoe, with a midfoot that was stretchy and unstructured, a heel opening that was a bit wide, and a flexible counter that “lacks rear hold without a lace lock.” Fortunately, the lacing system and the laces themselves provided a smooth and effective hold, according to users.

Much to the initial chagrin of Skechers fans, the Persistence deviated away from its Hyper Burst performance foam in favor of the softer Ultra Flight. Upon testing, though, one expert found that it was a “clearly bouncier and more dynamic” blend of Ultra Flight—with more responsiveness than the typical daily-trainer EVA midsole.
And thanks to the carbon H-plate in its forefoot, the midsole gained some extra Reclass while also keeping its softness in check.

While the shoe’s midsole and geometry allow the Persistence to perform surprisingly well at tempo and interval paces, its upper lockdown keeps it “from ranging into the faster side of daily training.”
This makes for a solid, comfortable shoe that can handle long mileage (one expert even referred to it as a “really fine budget marathon shoe option”), recovery runs, and most especially, daily efforts.
The rocker that keeps the Persistence rolling
While it’s easy to assume that the Persistence’s smooth and propulsive ride is a result of its carbon element, experts mainly credit this instead to its HyperArc forefoot rocker:

- “Makes up for some of the lacking parts of the shoe”

Because of its “whole kit and caboodle of Goodyear coverage,” the GOrun Persistence proved to be very grippy on dry/wet roads and even off-pavement.
The tire-tread rubber also offered plenty of durability, with one runner noticing very little wear on his outsoles despite having nearly 80 miles on them.
